From a small park in Finland to a global model for peace and sustainability

Many have asked what the Peace Circle® — or Rauhanympyrä, as it’s known in Finnish — truly means. Is it merely a park? This writing unravels its story and the model that has matured over the past year.

A year ago in Liperi, Eastern Finland, a park was planted in the shape of the universal peace symbol. At its center grows the Tree of Peace, surrounded by other trees symbolizing the foundations required for peace. The park was named Rauhanympyrä (Peace Circle).

That act did not stay in Liperi. Born in Finland, the Peace Circle® movement has begun to carry a model for sustainability and peace across continents.

The Peace Circle® invites people and communities to build connections among humanity, nature, and the planet. It is not a program, but an open-source model that anyone can bring to life — in their community, school, park, or sports field.

The Heart of the Peace Circle

The Peace Circle® is more than a model: it is a way to learn and act together. It is a universal and living concept that can take form anywhere — as a park, a ritual, a classroom setup, a football field, or an online gathering — wherever people come together for the common good. It is an ideologically and religiously unaligned, open foundation for all.

Making Values Visible through Action

The Peace Circle® turns values into action — it is a space where compassion transforms into connection, knowledge into understanding, and responsibility into collective action.

It is a state in which the heart feels, the mind understands, and the hands act. In balance, they create peace — a living connection to humanity, nature, and the future.

This open source of peace is a shared structure that anyone can implement, interpret, and further develop. Its core is simple and universal: people gather in a circle, on three distinct lines — the heart, the mind, and the hands — as a symbol of life’s balance and hope.

The Peace Sign Comes to Life

When people take their place in the circle and form the symbol’s lines, they literally bring to life the shape known worldwide as the peace sign.

The Peace Circle® brings it to life — not as a static symbol, but as a living peace sign born from people, movement, and nature.

It reminds us that peace is not only a political or abstract goal, but something deeply human and planetary — an act that happens every time we meet one another and respect life around us.

Peace for People and the Planet

The Peace Circle® builds holistic peace and sustainability: peace for people, peace for nature, and peace for the planet. It calls for balance between heart, mind, and action — reminding us that true peace grows from connection with all living things.

  • In schools, it signifies a learning community where every voice is heard and encourages making values visible through action.

  • In a park, it acts as a mirror — a place where the visitor can reflect on their relationship with humanity and nature.

  • On a sports field, it becomes a pre-game ritual where a seedling is raised high — a sign that life itself is the most important victory.

Open Idea, Secured Foundation

The Peace Circle® name is registered internationally to ensure that its original value and integrity are preserved. That is the foundation.

Yet the concept itself is open source: anyone can create their own version within the model’s framework, as long as they stay true to the core idea — peace for humanity and peace for nature.

The Peace Circle® calls upon individuals, communities, and cultures who wish to build a sustainable future by uniting values, knowledge, and action.

This movement grows as a living network that reminds us that peace is evident in our daily actions. Like every tree in the Rauhanympyrä park, it takes root, branches out, and thrives wherever people seek light and create connection.

Join the Movement

Create a circle. Join the movement. Make peace and sustainability real.

“Peace is open source — everyone can add their own line: with a tree, an action, or an idea.”

“We give the circle — you bring it to life.”

Peace Circle® – The Open Source of Peace and Planetary Care.
